Here's the story of where it all began.

Our mosaic making began in the early 90’s. In about 2013 we began making Lazy Susans. It was not intentional by any means. The way it began was Janet was sharing art space with a few other artists in Port Aransas, Texas. She was still making mosaics and she began hand painting pillows. She bought some Lazy Susan parts to make mosaic Lazy Susans. She sold a few and that was exciting.

In the same time frame, the shared art space was hosting a metal artist that made beautiful metal Sand Dollar wall art pieces. Allen Blackwell is his name and he is probably still making them. After he moved on, people were asking about his beautiful Sand Dollars. Janet thought that she could make them out of wood. That she did. She already had the Lazy Susan parts and she put the two together and started a new career. She listed some on Etsy. Several sold and the Port Aransas locals liked them. They became some what of a local favorite and it kept her very busy.

Then one day….Texas Country Reporter found her on Etsy. She got a call from the shows producer named Quiten and within a few weeks Janet and Mike were featured on a show. Etsy got crazy busy and Lazy Susans took over the mosaic business for several years. Below you will find the actual video of the show that was featured on TCR. It was very exciting!

Before long, it was 2023. Janet was wanting to get back to her mosaic life. She started offering classes and working on larger pieces. She picked up the art of making house number plaques that she began before the Lazy Susan career started.

That is where we find her today. She is no longer in Port Aransas but in the small area of Port Lavaca called Magnolia Beach. It’s a pretty and peaceful place on the Texas Coast, rich with Texas history,  beautiful marshes and sea birds. Indianola and the famous Indianola fishing marina is a short beachfront drive away. It’s a very interesting place, even if you don’t want to learn mosaics. Pop in and say hi anytime.

She now offers lessons at her home studio as well as a few differet art centers. Her home studio has a small space that is air conditioned. The majority is open air inside of her garage and on the back porch. If you are not familiar with Texas in the summer, it is mighty hot. (This is just a warning for those not familiar with the weather.

It’s casual, fun, affordable and you will find many airbnb’s in the immediate area. There is even one almost directly across the street called “Magnolia Beach Cottage”. The house has everything that you will ever need to be very comfortable. There are several that are waterfront also.

I would love for you to join me for some creative fun! Janet

A 44 year Journey of Creativity and Innovation that lead back to where it all began.

For many years, my focus shifted toward another creative endeavor: Lazy Susans. My husband Mike and I designed these pieces with the same love and attention to detail that we bring to our mosaics. In fact, our Lazy Susans were so successful that they landed us a feature on Texas Country Reporter! Above is the video of that show.

But mosaics were never far from my heart. Over time, I’ve rediscovered my love for this art form, fueled by years of experience and the development of my own unique style. Now, with Mike as my creative partner, we’ve reignited our passion for mosaics. Together, we’ve crafted everything from mosaic bar tops for Texas Hill Country venues to customized house plaques and house numbers.

Below are some images of way back when. Images and artworks that were created in that little cinderblock cabin near Lake Travis. Gosh, golly, I wish that I’d never sold that house. I cry everytime that I drive down the road.

The photo of me in front of the mosaic house was taken in Panama on the Island of Isla Grande off of the Carribean coast.
