There are many air bnb’s in the immediate area, one right across the street. Get a group together, rent a house and schedule some lessons. I promise you will leave with something that you will love.

Janet Dineen and Mike Maurer have been working together for over 20 years creating one of a kind pieces of colorful mosaic artwork. Be it a custom house numbers plaque or something fun or maybe a little bit wild and crazy, we love to work with your vision. We also offer group classes and lessons at our home studio in Port Lavaca, Texas.
In 1992 Janet purchased a small, cinder block cabin outside of Austin, Texas. The cabin was extremley rustic, no heat or ac, bad plumbing and a cement floor that was so cracked, full size tiles wouldn’t work. She had a side job in construction and had already aquired a lot of ceramic tiles of many colors and thicknesses. Not knowing what she was doing, she set out to mosaic the floor in an underwater type of scene only using a hammer, a calk gun and liquid nails . It was a mess. Herself and her two daughters had many bloody toes in those days. The project lasted for four years. She finally finished in 1996 and knew just enough to not know how amature it was. As far as we know, the floor is still in existence.
In 2003, Mike and Janet starting going together. They spent their first two weeks working on a long bartop together for the Lost Parrot Cabins, also outside of Austin near Lake Travis. That is when they realiezed that they could get along pretty good. By this time, some power tools were being used as well as some clippers and chippers.
The adventure continued and is still going on today. Together they have created hundreds of things from nick knack patty wacks to beautiful house plaques and numbers. Janet has won second place in an art gallery exhibit for one of her pieces. We love creating, sharing our knowledge and just doing what we do.

If you would like more private lessons or a private party and the use of power tools, you are welcome to join me in my home studio at Magnolia Beach, Port Lavaca, Texas.
There are several air bnb’s in the area, one across the street from my house. Price for private lessons is 25.00 per hour and includes one on one instructions and use of all my supplies.
